Revolution reveals HyperSport technical details ahead of first customer demonstrations

Alcon braking systems, FIA crash testing, R53 Suspension and RLM-developed powertrain strengthen the technical package behind Revolution Race Cars’ all-new HyperSport

 

Following the announcement of the genre-defining HyperSport earlier this year, Revolution Race Cars has confirmed partnerships with leading motorsport suppliers and revealed key elements of the car’s technical specification, underlining the rapid progress being made on the all-new lightweight track and race car.

 

The HyperSport was unveiled in April as an entirely new category of track machine, combining the driveability of GT3/GT4 type cars with the performance, safety and efficiency of modern prototypes.

Technical partnerships strengthen the HyperSport package

Alcon has been selected as the official braking partner for HyperSport, supplying a complete motorsport braking package designed to maximise driver confidence, consistency and durability.

 

The lightweight nature of the sub-700 kg HyperSport allows the Alcon system to deliver exceptional braking performance with extremely low wear rates, supporting Revolution’s objective of reducing operating costs while increasing track time.



R53 Suspension has also joined the programme as official damper supplier. The company’s advanced IL46 dampers have been specifically developed for HyperSport to optimise ride control, traction and mechanical grip while maintaining the predictable handling characteristics central to the car’s development philosophy.

 

The partnership allows HyperSport to maintain exceptional body control and aerodynamic consistency while delivering the compliance required for demanding circuits and track day environments.

 

To assist drivers and teams to achieve the ultimate pace, Revolution has partnered with RACE Software. Baseline suspension simulations are a cloud-based platform which allows evaluation of different suspension set-ups and parameter changes while at a track.

Powertrain specification revealed

Revolution has also released further details of the HyperSport powertrain package.

 

At the heart of the car sits a mid-mounted 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This was developed with long-standing technical partner RLM Racing who also built the 3.5-litre V6 Supercharged engine in the flagship Revolution 500 EVO, which earned a 5-star rating in evo magazine’s ‘best trackday cars for 2026’ test.

 

The HyperSport engine is based on the proven Mazda MZR architecture and the engine has been extensively re-engineered for sustained motorsport use.

 

Featuring a fully forged rotating assembly, competition-grade internal components and a motorsport-derived turbocharger package, the engine produces more than 300 bhp, and delivers more than 430 bhp per tonne.

 

The focus throughout development has been on drivability, throttle response and durability, supporting Revolution’s philosophy of maximum track time and minimum downtime.

 

Power is delivered through a six-speed sequential gearbox supplied by FIA Formula 3 transmission specialist 3MO, with the transmission acting as a stressed chassis member to optimise packaging, stiffness and weight.

 

FIA level crash testing: a no-compromise approach to safety

A major landmark since the launch announcement was the success in exceeding FIA standards in testing at Cranfield Impact Centre.

 

The tests applied two tonnes of load for each side of the chassis in three different locations. The FIA maximum allowable tolerance is 30mm of displacement. HyperSport achieved an incredible 1.8mm in the footwell, 15mm in the cockpit and 8.5mm in the rear.

 

The crash box ‘sled’ test was a particularly significant part of this safety programme. Multiple composite layups were evaluated to minimise impact forces and optimise driver safety.

 

Redwood emphasised that this is a key differentiator in the track day and club race markets: “We have a no-compromise approach to safety. Performance means nothing without protection. We want our customers to race hard and then safely return to work and their loved ones afterwards.”

 

Approaching first customer demonstrations

The HyperSport combines its advanced technical package with a lightweight carbon reinforced polymer monocoque, innovative low-drag aerodynamic philosophy and the world’s first double halo safety structure integrated with an IndyCar-style aeroscreen.

 

With the first demonstration HyperSports approaching completion, Revolution is now accepting deposits for build slots for 2026 delivery.
