Revolution Spyder Parts

High performance chassis and suspension for Lotus Elans

Why Is Revolution Race Cars Making Parts for Lotus Elans?

At first glance, it might seem strange that Revolution Race Cars is now producing Spyder parts for classic Lotus Elans. But when you look at our roots, it makes perfect sense.

Revolution co-founder Phil Abbott has a long and deep connection with Lotus Elans and Spyder chassis. Phil worked at Spyder Cars from 1977 to 1988, during which time he personally manufactured the first 500 Spyder spaceframe chassis. In many ways, this new chapter is simply a return home.

Bringing Spyder Manufacturing Into Revolution

Revolution Race Cars has recently taken on the production of Spyder chassis and suspension components, following the purchase of the original Spyder Cars tooling. We’ve brought the Spyder brand and its components into our Revolution premises and we:

  • Have re-established manufacture with original and new jigs

  • Are producing both types of Spyder chassis (space frame & stressed skinned sheet metal

  • Manufacturing performance suspension components

In short, we’re not just continuing the Spyder legacy – we’re rebuilding it with the same care, knowledge and experience that created it in the first place.

Staying True to Colin Chapman’s Philosophy

Colin Chapman’s core concept for Lotus was simple but powerful: the best-value, lightweight race car.

Lotus has produced over 130 models, and around 100 of those are race cars.

They are, at their heart, a race car company built on an ethos of lightweight performance.

At Revolution, we are committed to staying true to that philosophy. With our Spyder range of parts for Lotus Elans, we:

  • Respect the original Lotus and Spyder concepts

  • Use modern technology, materials and processes

  • Aim to further improve performance, stiffness and safety
