UK-developed track car recognised for combining advanced prototype-level performance, innovative engineering and safety at an attainable price point

Revolution Race Cars has been nominated for the Most Innovative New Motorsport Product award at the RACE TECH World Motorsport Symposium 2026, recognising the engineering innovation behind its all-new HyperSport track car.

Designed and developed in the UK, HyperSport brings together unique technologies and proven design principles from across the spectrum of motorsport engineering, including Le Mans Prototypes and IndyCar racing, to create a new proposition for track day drivers and competitive racers. The nomination recognises Revolution’s approach to making high-performance motorsport engineering more attainable, without compromising on safety or the driving experience.

Developed from a clean sheet, HyperSport has been designed around a simple principle: to be exhilarating, not intimidating. Weighing 680 kg dry and delivering up to 515 bhp per tonne, it combines its lightweight construction with an aerodynamic philosophy focused on predictable handling, low drag and driver confidence.

Safety is central to the concept. HyperSport features an in-house manufactured, resin-infused carbon fibre monocoque tested to FIA standards, alongside an IndyCar-style wraparound aeroscreen and Revolution’s innovative double-halo safety concept first proven on the HyperSport’s stablemate, the Revolution 500 EVO. Together, these features bring advanced driver protection to a price point below £120,000: unique in this market sector.

The car’s engineering extends beyond outright performance. Its semi-ground-effect underfloor is designed to deliver consistent, predictable downforce, while an emphasis on mechanical grip helps create an intuitive handling balance. Modular bodywork and bolted assemblies also allow damaged sections to be replaced efficiently, helping simplify maintenance and reduce repair complexity. It only takes 60-seconds to remove the floor and bodywork, making it the perfect car for race school fleets and track experience operators where downtime costs revenue.

A two-seat cockpit, with interchangeable central, left-hand and right-hand driving configurations, further broadens HyperSport’s potential applications, from competitive racing and trackdays to driver coaching and passenger experiences.

HyperSport is now in production in Peterborough alongside the company’s flagship 500 EVO, which has helped build an international presence with more than 50 cars competing worldwide. Dedicated HyperSport prototype classes are planned for more than ten European and North American racing series ahead of the 2027 season.

Nigel Redwood, Managing Director of Revolution Race Cars, said: “We’re delighted that HyperSport has been nominated. From the outset, our ambition was to challenge some of the traditional compromises in this part of the market: the choice between cars at an attainable price-point with limited performance and safety technology, and high-end prototypes that can be expensive and complex to operate.

“HyperSport brings together a number of ideas from different areas of motorsport in a package we believe offers something genuinely different. It’s encouraging to see that approach recognised by the industry, and we’re looking forward to introducing the car to more drivers and teams.”

The nomination provides an opportunity to share the thinking behind HyperSport with the wider motorsport engineering community as Revolution Race Cars continues to develop the car’s role in track driving and competition.
