Shanaman Claims Debut Win at Road Atlanta in Round 2 of the Revolution Cup

Newcomer Aaron Shanaman took a dramatic overall victory in the final race as Ulmer and Riley dominate early running at Road Atlanta this past weekend.

Round 2 of the Revolution Cup North America delivered an exciting weekend of racing at the legendary Road Atlanta, featuring three competitive races across the Revolution Cup PS1 and PS2 classes. The event showcased experienced front-runners, rising talent, and two drivers making their Revolution Cup debuts.

In qualifying, John Ulmer (#46) set the pace in the Revolution Cup PS1 class, putting his Revolution 500 EVO on pole position. In PS2, Austin Riley (#20) secured pole in his Revolution 427, setting the stage for another dominant weekend in class, one that would see him go on to set the PS2 lap record at Road Atlanta.

Weekend Highlights

One of the standout stories of the weekend was Aaron Shanaman, who was making his race debut in both a Revolution Race Car and the Revolution Cup, having only received his brand-new Revolution 500 EVO from the UK just a week before the event.

Shanaman steadily built pace throughout the weekend, improving in each race. After finishing third in Race 1 and second in Race 2, he delivered a breakthrough performance in Race 3, taking the overall victory in an impressive debut weekend.

Another driver continuing to turn heads was Austin Riley. Despite competing in the PS2 class in his Rilli Racing Revolution 427, which has less power than the PS1 500 cars, Riley consistently ran with the front of the overall field. In the final race of the weekend, Riley even led the race outright before Shanaman eventually moved ahead to take the win.

Elvis Stojko continued to show impressive pace and consistency, finishing on the podium in all three races and remaining a constant contender at the front of the PS1 field.

In PS2, James Dennison continues to develop quickly as a driver. With only a handful of races since obtaining his competition license, Dennison secured three Revolution Cup second-place finishes, gaining valuable experience and demonstrating steady improvement.

Jeff Posey

Jeff Posey also made his debut, taking on both a Revolution race car and the Revolution Cup for the first time through Revolution’s exclusive arrive-and-drive program. Coming from a background in dirt racing, both on bikes and in trophy trucks, this marked Jeff’s first-ever road race. With just two test days on a road circuit prior to the weekend, he put in the work by studying the track, spending time on the sim, and embracing coaching throughout the event.

Jeff built pace consistently across the weekend, taking seconds off his lap times session by session. By the end, he was matching his qualifying pace and running within two seconds of the leader. A true competitor, it’s only a matter of time before we see him on the podium.
