It's estimated that there are 3 million people around the world who compete in motorsport. For the lucky few, racing becomes a career. For the majority it’s a hobby, but that still covers multitude of different levels from club competitors to those mounting serious and well-funded campaigns on national and international titles.
Traditionally, one of the fundamental differences between these different levels of driver has been their approach to data. Keen amateurs might work with a driver coach who can delve into the data, but for many it’s a few minutes spent reviewing the footage on a video logger or nothing at all. Professionals, on the other hand, will be analysing the data with their race engineer after every session.
